Alanya ist ein Kurort an der zentralen Mittelmeerküste der Türkei (auch bekannt als die türkische Riviera). Unter seinen breiten und mit Hotels gesäumten Stränden befindet sich der Kleopatra-Strand, an dem, so sagt man, die ägyptische Königin schwamm. Die Burg von Alanya, eine riesige Festung aus der Selycidal-Ära, die in ein Freilichtmuseum umgewandelt wurde, befindet sich auf einer felsigen Klippe an der Strandlinie, neben den osmanischen Villen mit roten Dächern und dem achteckigen Roten Turm, einem Symbol der Stadt, das bis ins Jahr 1226 zurückreicht.
